As the Dying Light series offers a similar open single player experience to the original Dead Island, many are wondering where the announced sequel to that game is.
However, the popularity of unique zombie games still seems to be high, as proven by the high sales figures of Dying Light 2. The zombie genre of games was incredibly popular back in the early 2010s, with titles like Call of Duty Zombies, Left 4 Dead 2 and The Walking Dead giving players varied experiences of an infectious apocalypse. The game received a mixed response from critics, citing gameplay bugs and technical issues as being rife within the game, however it still performed well where sales are concerned, having sold over 5 million copies. There's been a few other titles linked to the Dead Island franchise, such as Dead Island: Riptide, though a mainline sequel for the game is yet to be released.
