The zombie genre of games was incredibly popular back in the early 2010s, with titles like Call of Duty Zombies, Left 4 Dead 2 and The Walking Dead giving players varied experiences of an infectious apocalypse. The game received a mixed response from critics, citing gameplay bugs and technical issues as being rife within the game, however it still performed well where sales are concerned, having sold over 5 million copies. There's been a few other titles linked to the Dead Island franchise, such as Dead Island: Riptide, though a mainline sequel for the game is yet to be released.
